KLIN Group Chairwoman commits to sponsorship initiative for enterprising business women

12 August 2013

The Association of Ayrshire Business Women (AABW), has today (12 August) launched a ‘Women in Enterprise’ initiative aimed at helping start-up entrepreneurs to access business networks.

The scheme is being sponsored and led by entrepreneur, Marie Macklin, Chairwoman of The KLIN Group, who has committed to helping businesswomen to develop their business networks and to providing access to expert, practical advice and guidance.

Marie will fund membership of the AABW initially for 12 women – six in the autumn and six in spring – for one year. On appointment to the Association, the new members will attend a welcome lunch where they will be introduced to a wide network of colleagues. Throughout their membership, Marie will act as their sponsor and will provide mentoring sessions at regular points throughout the year.

The initiative, launched at a special lunch at the Fenwick Hotel, is being piloted in the Ayrshire area with the AABW.

Marie is keen that women from Ayrshire and the wider west of Scotland business community apply for the initiative with the AABW and she hopes that the concept will be adopted by other established entrepreneurs and replicated across Scotland.

She said: “I’m so pleased to be launching the Women in Enterprise sponsorship initiative with the Association of Ayrshire Business Women. In the first instance, it will provide twelve women with a fantastic opportunity to develop professionally, with strong support in place and access to expert advice. I strongly believe that women should support other women – the bigger and better the support networks are, the more women can thrive to the benefit of the whole business community and indeed to our country.”

Liz Cooper, President of the Ayrshire Association of Business Women, said: “We are thrilled and proud to be working with Marie on this fantastic initiative which will help support more women achieve their goals and drive their businesses forward. Making new connections and sharing experiences can be incredibly inspirational and encouraging, and fundamentally AABW is about broadening business women’s networks and knowledge. AABW is therefore delighted to welcome each of these talented business women to our group and we look forward to getting to know them and their businesses over the coming months.”
